FAMU Trustees Call for ‘Prompt Meeting’ on Ammons’ Resignation

Florida A&M’s Board of Trustees called Wednesday for a “prompt meeting” on the resignation of the university’s president. They were discussing budget matters when Trustee Rufus Montgomery first presented the option to the board.

The trustees are discussing the date for the meeting. The motions are to hold an “emergency face-to-face” meeting on Monday, July 16.

“We must be able to provide the leadership necessary to discuss this grave issue,” said Trustee Narayan Persaud.

“it is so important that we cannot wait,” said Montgomery. “We all have a right to understand what that means given this time in our history.”

“Give the group some space for people to participate,” Chairman Solomon Badger said.
