New Coach New Style: Live Blog

7:57 p.m.

The Rattlers are killing themselves with all the turnovers, but Yannick Crowder is keeping Albany State at bay with his paint presence.

8:01 p.m

This game is moving at a much faster pace than any of the games from last year. The team is flying up and down the court. I’m still trying to figure out if this is a good or a bad thing.

8:15 p.m.

I am starting to realize that if a team can continuously turns the ball over then they will go from being down one to being down seven really quickly.

8:19 p.m.

Albany State has been raining threes the entire game. FAMU still has hope as long as Yannick Crowder keeps sending peoples shot into the fourth row of fans. He already has 3 blocks in this game.

8:22 p.m

Everybody joining the block party now as Markee Teal goes up an smacks him one into the stands.

8:23 p.m.

I have never witnessed more failed dunk attempts than in the first 11 minutes of this contest. My daughter has made more highlights on her play school goal than in this game (credit for this punchline goes to Jaelynn).

8:30 p.m

Another case of a million dollar move with a 10 cent finish. But the tip in was pretty.

8:31 p.m.

Crowder has more blocks than lego at this point in the game and the second half hasn’t even started yet.

8:44 p.m.

Apparently the correct number of blocks for this guy is six. I was looking more around the 12 13-ish range.

8:53 p.m.

The first dunk of the night is made by Mr. Crowder. And now he is on the bench hurting.

8:54 p.m.

Avery Moore is having a rough evening. He has yet to hit a three pointer, layup, dunk, free throw or any shot for  that matter.

8:58 p.m.

At least for now the Rattlers have made a game of this. The offensive tempo is still high, but they have found a nice groove with it. The defensive pressure is starting to bother Albany State and their offense has become stagnant. Their shooting percentage has also dropped. In the first half, they were making three pointers at will and now they cant spell behind the arc.

9:05 p.m.

This is the most disheartening athletic display in my brief 23-year history. Missed dunks, tip-ins and free throws have hindered the team from blowing this game wide open.

9:13 p.m

The array of moves this team uses to get to the hole is remarkable. Now only if they could finish the play, then the game would be a blow out.

9:19 p.m.

My blog must have reached the bench because Crowder just threw down a nasty slam over an Albany defender.

9:23 p.m.

Moore has been a crutch the entire game. It really just hasn’t been his night. But he seems pretty comfortable in this press defense.

9:25 p.m.

No sooner do I type the comment, Moore comes down the court and drains the go-ahead three pointer for the team. I must be a good luck charm.

9:27 p.m.

I just realize that a score update has not been given this entire blog. My apologies. FAMU 63 ASU 62 2:34 left to play.

9:30 p.m.

In a game this close, nobody will have nails by the end of the night. FAMU 64 ASU 64 56.4 seconds left to play.

9:36 p.m.

A dagger three pointer by Jaren Harris crushes FAMU’s hopes of a win.
