Rattlers get sneak peek at film

Moviegoers have awaited the much-anticipated and advertised film “The Social Network,” which premieres in Tallahassee theaters this Friday.

Sony Pictures is hosting a pre-screening of “The Social Network” Thursday at the Tallahassee Mall in the AMC Theater.

There will be a distribution of free promotional t-shirts, posters and bags at the screening.

The screening is open to Florida A&M students, but has limited viewing for only the first 250 students.

“The Social Network” is based on the book “The Accidental Billionaires,” which tells the story of Mark Zuckerberg, the creator of the global social network Facebook.

The movie explores how Zuckerberg, a discontented Harvard undergraduate student who is unsatisfied with his lack of popularity, establishes the foundation for what has revolutionized the way humans communicate and changed the face of social interaction.

Six years after he makes his first million and begins to climb the social ladder, the plot begins to unfurl. Zuckerberg quickly realizes that problems accompany great wealth, including the ending of friendships and, in his case, a lawsuit.

“The Social Network” will give audiences a more in-depth look at what made an anti-social Ivy League student into a poster child for self-made billionaires, and the inner workings of the popular social networking site.

The movie stars R&B crooner Justin Timberlake as Napster co-creator Sean Parker, Andrew Garfield as Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin and Jesse Eisenberg as the computer genius Mark Zuckerberg.

The movie starts at 7:30 p.m. Students who are interested in viewing the early screening should contact the Sony account team at 904-316-1766. For more information follow @The_SocialNetwork on Twitter.
