FAMU freshman Brandon Brinson dies on gun shoot

Florida A&M student Brandon Brinson died early Wednesday morning at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. The 19-year-old was taken to the hospital by friends and had an apparent gunshot wound.

Officers are searching for information about the circumstances surrounding his death and are interviewing Brinson’s friends who took him to the hospital.

Officer David McCranie from TPD said he could not comment on the status of the ongoing investigation.

Chelsea Anderson, 18, from Washington, D.C., said Brinson’s death came as a shock to her.

“Brandon was a sweetheart [and] a really nice guy,” said the freshman broadcast journalism major. “I think he just got caught up in the wrong things with the wrong people. I didn’t know him long, but I had just spoken to him yesterday in the caf…he seemed to be doing well. I’m not sure what happened.”

An autopsy is scheduled today to verify the cause of death. Anyone with information related to the crime is asked to contact (850) 891-4200 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 574- 8477.
