The Rattlers are looking to pick up their first win streak in MEAC play with a win tonight against Hampton.  FAMU is coming off of a dramatic 72-67 overtime win over Howard University on Saturday.  Hampton cruised past Bethune-Cookman on Saturday 71-44.

7:35

FAMU is 7-19 overall, and 4-9 in the MEAC.  Hampton is one spot ahead of the Rattlers in the conference standings.  The Pirates are 9-17 overall, and 5-8 in the MEAC.  This should be a highly competitive game, as both teams could desperately use a conference win.  We’re 10 minutes from tip off.  Stay tuned!

The Pirates have three players who average double figures in scoring, led by Vincent Simpson who puts up 13.5 points per contest.  Brandon Bryant is the leading scorer for the Rattlers, he averages 9.5 points per game.  The National Anthem will be played shortly, and after that it will be time for some Rattler basketball!  Stay tuned for live updates.

The Rattlers have come out on fire with back to back three-pointers by Stevens and Jenkins.  The Pirates, on the other hand, have “airballed” on back to back three-point attempts.  The Rattlers have started the game on a run, let’s see if the trend will continue.

8-2 FAMU

8:05

The Pirates have taken the lead early in the first half.  They were down earlier but they have fought back, the Rattlers will need to do the same if they want to stay in the game.

16-11 Hampton (10:30 left in the 1st)

8:20

The Rattlers are still trailing, but the game is close.  It’s been a fast-paced game thus far, and both teams have been trying to get out in the break to score in transition.  Cecil Bent just gave the Al Lawson Center a little life with a nice reverse lay up.

30-27 Hampton (3:18 left in the 1st)

8:50

The game was tied at 34-34 at halftime and the 2nd half has started.  Sorry for the delay, we were trying to post some pictures.

43-42 Hampton

9:00

FAMU has been getting dominated on the boards.  They were outrebounded 23-7 in the first half, and the trend has continued in the second half.  The Rattlers have the lead, but if they want to secure a victory they’ve got to hit the boards.

48-47 FAMU (11:45 left to play)

9:15

There’s a little over five minutes left to play, and the Rattlers are still down.  The lead is not insurmountable, but the Rattlers need to do something fast if they’re going to catch back up.

59-51 Hampton (5:23 left to play)

9:25

Dale Hughes just connected on a huge three-pointer to help cut into the lead, but the Pirates are still up.  Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers.  I’m echoing the word ‘turnover’ because I feel like that’s what I have been doing all season.  The Rattlers still have issues holding onto the ball, and a team can’t score if it can’t keep the ball.

64-54 Hampton (1:50 left to play)

9:38

That’s the ball game, the Rattlers fell to the Hampton Pirates and they were unable to put together back to back wins in the Al Lawson Center.  The Rattlers next game will be the on Saturday against the Winston-Salem State University Rams in North Carolina.

70-61 Hampton (Final)
