I not going to work one day in business.” Keymáh said. ” I thank the School of Business and Industry for bringing me here, because if it weren’t for them I wouldn’t have made the friendships that I did and I wouldn’t have studied theater in the way that I did.”

Keymáh was impressed with the amount of theater students she was able to sit and converse with last week.

“It’s astounding!” said Keymáh. “When I was here there was only two directors that did everything, the faculty now is bigger and getting more done. I’m proud to say I am a product of FAMU Essential Theater.”

“All tickets sold were sold at the door,” said Keymáh.

She explained how she got together with a few of her classmates and created the box office system for Essential Theater. “It’s memorable to me because it demonstrates
the power that students have. That’s why I charged students to make things happen.”

Keymáh’s passion has not wavered since attending FAMU. After graduation she returned back to her hometown of Chicago to perform in theaters such as The Regal Theatre.

She acted, sang and danced her way into plays such as “Love Letters” and “The Five Heartbeats Live” and then eventually to the television screen.

Keymáh also has done voice-over work, contributing to shows like “The Wayne Heads” and “Teen Titans.”

“It’s been wonderful working with the cast,” said Keymáh. “I love watching them work, watching them learn new things, and see the difference in their performance from day-to-day. I tell the students to continue studying theater throughout their lives, to know who they are and to bring a positive image to the industry.”
