Man stabbed during a homecoming party

There are still no leads or arrests for a stabbing that happened during homecoming weekend.

A 19-year-old man was stabbed several times late Saturday night at a private event held at Elks Lodge, located on 267 North Magnolia Drive, according to the Tallahassee Police Department.

The event was hosted by FAMU’s Upsilon Psi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and was supposed to take place from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., but the party was cut short due to the incident.

Officer David McCraine, spokesperson for the department, said the stab wounds are not life threatening. The incident is presumed to be aggravated assault as an altercation took place at the event.

By the time police arrived, the victim had already been taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

Some students in attendance said they had no clue as to what happened.

“I was in the corner of the club and all of a sudden the lights came on. The party was over and the police were outside,” said Raymond Tomas, 22, a third-year engineering student from Miami. “I was shocked. I didn’t even see anybody running or scrambling inside.”
