Third loss is upsetting

On Monday, the Lady Rattlers of Florida A&M University took on Coppin State Eagles. The Rattlers came into the game with winning on the brain.

Unfortunately they lost their second straight game and suffered their third loss in their last four games with Monday’s loss, while Coppin State continued their late-season surge.

The Lady Rattlers scored the first two points of the game. After scoring those points it was a back and forth battle between both.

One team scored and then in the next play the other would add points to their side.

The Lady Rattlers led the game with a 27-21 lead over the Lady Eagles. The Lady Rattlers lost momentum going into the second half; Coppin State took a 6-0 run over them in the second half to tie the game.

For six minutes of the game FAMU went scoreless letting the Lady Eagles score a 9-0 run.

The Lady Rattlers shot 15.2 percent (five of three) and missed 10 three-pointers. But eventually Coppin State took the game with in fourth quarter with a 57-45 win over the Lady Rattlers.

Senior Stephanie Foster was the leading scorer for the Lady Rattlers with 15 points in the game.

Senior Deidra Fields followed with 12 points and eight rebounds, followed by freshmen Antonia Bennett’s nine points. Senior Denise Tate put up a team high of nine boards.

The players were not available for comment. The Lady Rattlers are currently seventh in the MEAC standings. The Lady Rattlers next game will be Maryland–Eastern Shore Saturday 5pm at Gaither Gymnasium.
