Hip hop forum addresses community issues, politics

AllHipHop.com will present the 10th Anniversary of Hip Hop Forum, Oct. 28 from 2pm to 5pm in the Perry-Paige Auditorium.

The event will be hosted by MTV’s, Fonzworth Bentley, and will feature guest panelists AllHipHop.com CEOs, Greg “Grouchy” Watkins and Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur

The Social Lounge will be a discussion of hip-hop, politics, and other issues affecting the community. Questions like, “Is it ok to use the “N” word?,” will be posed to the community.

The purpose of this event is to shed light on the hip-hop culture and illustrate it in a more positive manner as well as informing others of the importance of exercising their right to vote.

Kashif Smiley,20, campus representative for AllHipHop.com and business administration student from Miami, said the tour will be traveling to various universities.

“The tour began in late September and started with Clark Atlanta, North Carolina A&T, Howard, Delaware State, Hampton and will finish with Florida A&M University, which are all Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Smiley said the well-known HBCUs were chosen to take part in the tour.

Jarius Glover, 20, a sophomore computer information systems student from Orlando, said he thinks the event will positively affect FAMU.

“I think the Hip Hop Forum is a good idea, as long as the panelists remain professional,” Glover said.
