Tom Joyner Scholarship deadline approaching

In conjunction with the Florida A&M University Tom Joyner School of the Month Campaign, the Tom Joyner Foundation will award scholarships to deserving FAMU students during the month of January 2008 for the spring semester. Scholarship recipients will be announced on the Tom Joyner Morning Show every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday throughout the month. Students must be a full-time students, meet the criteria for the specific scholarship. But must not be receiving funds from any source that will place the student in refund status. Any false statement or misrepresentation will be cause for denial, reduction, withdrawal or re-payment of scholarship and incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Scholarships shall be awarded in the following three categories:

•Single parent: TJF will give a single parent scholarship every Monday morning. The student must maintain a 2.0 grade point average. This recipient will have a compelling human-interest story that emphasizes the goals and aspirations of the student. Applicants must indicate the number of children and their ages. The amount of the scholarship is $1,500.

•The Tom Joyner Foundation Scholar: The Tom Joyner Foundation will give a TJF Scholars scholarship every Tuesday. The student must maintain a 2.0 GPA. This recipient will have a compelling human-interest story that emphasizes the goals and aspirations of the student. The amount of the scholarship is $1,500.

•Brotha’s on the Move: This scholarship is for male students that are true ambassadors in their community and will be awarded every Thursday of the month. Each of these students must have a 3.0 minimum GPA in addition to strong educational goals and aspirations for their future. There is an expectation for these students to have participated in some form of community service, be strongly involved in on campus activities, or other campus or community organizations. Applicants need to have an overall strong “mover and shaker” type spirit. The amount of the scholarship is $2,500.
