Defendants go free in Martin Lee Anderson case

The eight defendants on trial for felony aggravated manslaughter of Martin Lee Anderson were declared not guilty early Friday afternoon after 90 minutes of deliberations.

Judge Michael Overstreet announced the verdict Friday around 1:30 p.m.

Anderson, who was 14 at the time, died after being beaten by seven drill instructors at a juvenile boot camp in Bay County, FL in 2006.

Boot camp drill instructors Henry Dickens, Charles Enfinger, Patrick Garrett, Raymond Hauck, Charles Helms Jr., Henry McFadden Jr., Joseph Walsh II and camp nurse Kristin Schmidt were acquitted by an all white jury.
