Students involved in hit and run, cops look for suspect

A hit and run occurred near Paddyfote dorms at approximately 11:15 p.m. Sunday, and Tallahassee police officers are looking for the driver of a white Buick Oldsmobile that fled the scene.

According to witnesses, the assailant struck Chris Glenn, 18, a student from Atlanta, Ga., as he stood at the open trunk of a silver Volkswagen Passat owned by Lakerria Royal, 19, a student from Tampa.

“I saw the car coming, and then I saw Chris get hit from the back,” said Quinn Andrews, 19, a business administration student from Gainesville, Fla.

Glenn complained of leg pain, but refused transportation to the hospital by emergency responders at the scene.

Officers said the fleeing vehicle received damage including a broken headlight, but they were unable to disclose the name of the driver.

“We don’t have all the information,” said Officer Stacey Youmans of the Tallahassee Police Department. “I’m pretty sure who the owner of the vehicle is, but the car didn’t have any tag or other information.”

A second accident took place minutes after the first collision.

The owner of a red Toyota Corolla said he was looking down at his cell phone when he hit the white Toyota Camry ahead of him, which had begun slowing down to avoid the first incident.

The drivers involved in the second accident spoke with officers on the scene. However, attention quickly shifted back to the original crash as the officers got word that the white Oldsmobile had allegedly been spotted near campus.

Officers have not made any arrests in the case.
