Professor dies rock climbing

FAMU faculty and students were shocked and saddened to hear about the death of fellow Rattler and School of Business and Industry professor Kenneth Gray.

On Saturday evening, Gray suffered an apparent heart attack while serving as the lead climber on a rock-climbing excursion in Tennessee.

However, the exact cause of death is unconfirmed and will be announced upon the release of the autopsy report.

News of Gray’s death began to trickle down to FAMU on Saturday night.

“We were all shocked,” said Amos Bradford, associate professor and former interim dean of SBI.

“Since last night we’re trying to pick ourselves up off the floor and get our bearings,” Bradford said.

According to Bradford, Gray will be buried in his hometown of Philadelphia, but all funeral details will be finalized later this week. “It’s a devastating loss for SBI and FAMU because he was a wonderful professor and a great man,” Bradford said.

Gray is survived by his mother, brother, wife and two daughters.
