FAMU Votes: SGA President Voter’s Guide

Monique Gillum, 20, a junior political science student from Gainesville is a candidate for the position of Florida A&M University’s student body president for the 2007-2008 school year. James Bland, 21, a junior business administration student from Titusville, Florida, is running with Gillum as FAMU’s student body vice president. Together these two have coined their administration, The Torch: Igniting the students, Guiding the movement. According to their platform, if elected they plan to nurture student relations, publicize student academics, improve student services, ease and comfort student housing, promote student safety, constrain to serve with student activism and continue to improve upon services that are already provided.

Cyrah Hawkins, 22, a senior criminal justice and political science student from Atlanta, is a candidate for the position of Florida A&M University’s student body president for the 2007-2008 school term. Tallie Brinson, 22, a senior music education student, also from Atlanta, is running with Hawkins as FAMU’s student body vice president. Together these two Atlanta natives have developed the D.E.A.L Administration, which is an acronym that stands for delivering equality and leadership. According to their platform, if elected they plan to raise knowledge and awareness of student rights, address parking and booting, ensure adequate information concerning financial aid, promote campus beautification, encourage more interactivity with student government and the students and resolve various university-wide issues.
