Board of Trustees seat vacant

There is a second vacancy for the Florida A&M University Board of Trustees.

David Griffin, who was appointed to the board in January 2005, said he sent his resignation letter March 24 after finding out he would not be appointed.

Griffin said his appointment was subject to senate confirmation.

Griffin is a lobbyist, and in accordance with the bill passed in the 2005 legislation session, no lobbyist can sit on a state university board.

Griffin said his appointment was subject to senate confirmation.

“Since I hadn’t been confirmed prior to the law, I wasn’t allowed to finish out my term. I support FAMU.”

Griffin said he plans to find ways to continue to support FAMU.

Prior to his appointment, he was a forum speaker for the School of Business and Industry.

A replacement has yet to be named for Griffin.

There’s no word yet on how long it will take to find someone to fill his seat.
