Sports Notes:

Softball

The Lady Rattlers were in action throughout the break.

FAMU traveled to Atlanta for the Buzz Classic.

The softball team took on Wisconsin, Radford, Georgia State and Texas-El Paso respectively.

FAMU compiled a 1-4 mark in the Buzz Classic.

FAMU defeated UTEP by a 5-4 margin in their lone victory. The orange and green returned to Tallahassee to take on UConn.

UConn beat FAMU 3-1 in the contest. FAMU then traveled across town for the FSU Softball Classic.

FAMU faced North Carolina, St. John’s, Nebraska and FSU. The Lady Rattlers finished 0-4 in the FSU Classic. FAMU lost the games by a combined eight runs.

The Lady Rattlers take the field Thursday in a doubleheader. FAMU takes on Norfolk State in the afternoon match-up.

Men’s Tennis

FAMU headed to South Carolina for two matches during the break. The tennis team beat out Charleston Southern 4-3.

The Rattlers fell to the College of Charleston by a 4-3 count.

The tennis team returns to action on Thursday. FAMU travels to Daytona Beach to take the court against Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Track and Field

The University hosted the annual FAMU Relays at the Pete Griffin Track.

The men’s team posted 14 top-10 finishes in the FAMU Relays. The Rattlers captured two events.

Brian Griffith won the 800-meter run and Jermond Smith won the triple jump.

The women’s team also posted 14 top-10 finishes in the FAMU Relays. The Lady Rattlers won one event.

Shantrice Greene captured the 100-meter hurdles event. FAMU also had five second-place finishes at the event.
