Food lovers can please their palates locally

While Tallahassee isn’t known for its big city appeal, it is known for some of the best cuisines.  Although restaurants like the Olive Garden and Carrabba’s Italian Grill are already popular, I want to introduce you to some of the best food in Tallahassee.

Our first stop is India. Reangthai Thai Cuisine provides the taste of Thailand without the passport.  Reangthai offers an array of hot, spicy dishes. Dishes include Thai curries, salads, soups, noodles, rice and stir-frys. Chef’s nightly specials and a wide array of vegetarian delights are also available.

Our next stop is Asia, Japan to be exact.  Osaka Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar.  For all of the sushi lovers, Osaka is sure to please.  This steakhouse and sushi bar provides a blended theme of Japanese culture and modernism.  The steak is stir-fried or sautéed right before the customer. The sushi is of pure delight and the price won’t leave your pockets full of lint.

Although food is fulfilling, it can leave you feeling broke. For this reason, I recommend the best Italian pizza in Tallahassee.  Momo’s Pizza, open seven days a week, is located on west Tennessee Street and offers great pizza at an even better price.  Their most popular item is the pepperoni pizza starting at $2.95 per slice.  Their calzones, sometimes referred to as pockets, are $6.50, including 2 toppings.  The prices are sure to fit any college student’s budget. Prices range from $2.95 to $20, for an extra large pizza with four toppings.  Our next stop in Europe is France.  France, known for the Eiffel Tower and couture has made a home in the Tallahassee community named Chez Pierre.  Chez Pierre offers French cuisine with southern delight. Chez Pierre provides the ambience of the perfect place for celebration or the most intimate dining experience. Although the food is hearty, the price isn’t light on your wallet.

Now it’s time to jet set to the West Indies, and there is no better place in town to make you feel like the Caribbean than G&G Jamaican Restaurant.  The most popular dish is the curried chicken, with rice, peas and fried banana.  Prices are accommodating as dishes range from $3.75 for a medium dish to $5.90 for a large.  G&G Jamaican restaurant is located right in the heart of Tallahassee off of Tennessee Street and Macomb.

Now south of the border to Mexico.  Los Compadres Mexican Restaurant located on John Knox Road offers 2 for 1 specials on Wednesday nights and an all you can eat for a little over $7.  Their chicken tacos and chile rellenos are some of the best in town and the service is great.  Our journey concludes in America. The pick of the U.S. is Paradigm located on College Avenue and Duval Street. Paradigm offers the ideal atmosphere for the Tallahassee socialite without the socialite cost.

Remember to always carry plastic because you never know where your palate may take you.
