TALLAHASSEE – Florida A&M sprinter Brent Mobley won the 100 meter dash Saturday as the Rattler Track Team concluded competition in the 2005 FSU Relays at the Mike Long Track and Field Complex.Mobley’s winning time was 10.57 seconds in the Gold Division 100 meters, while teammates Chris Hargrett (10.67) and Antwanare Jones (11.01) ran third and eighth respectively.The Rattler relays teams ran well Friday and Saturday, especially the 4×800 combo of Tristan James, Erick Ward, Brian Griffith and Omar Osbourne, finished second in 7:38.88.Meanwhile, the 4×100 crew of Chris Hargrett, Brent Mobley, Antwanare Jones and Fredrick Robinson ran fourth (40.69), with the 4×400 “B” Team placing sixth (3:16.74).Roderick Peterson was one of several FAMU workhorses in the four-day event, picking up fourth in the 400 hurdles (54.81), eighth in the 800 meters (1:59.48) and 11th in the 110 hurdles (15.91).Greg Bing turned in a pair of Top 10 finishes in the field events, getting seventh in the Garnet shot put (12.52 meters) and ninth in the Gold discus throw (42.65 meters).
TALLAHASSEE – Florida A&M University’s Nadia Covington captured the title in the Women’s Triple Jump Gold division Friday, in the 2005 FSU Relays at Mike Long Track.Covington had a winning jump of 12.15 meters (39 feet, 10-and-one-half inches) Friday.
Other FAMU Performances Friday:*The FAMU 4×800 meter relay team of Danielle Bass, Lyndia Mesidor, Lydia Braithwaite and Lindsay Thomas, placed fifth in 9:42.59.*Darah Valville finished eighth in the High Jump Gold (8th – 1.60 meters).*Nakia Daniels ran 11th in the 200 meter dash Garnet (26.11), as did Danielle Bass (11th – 5:03.04) in the women’s 1500 meter, while Jessica Spence finished 11th (2.75 meters) in the Pole Vault Garnet.*Spence also finished 13th (4.89 meters) in the Women’s Long Jump Garnet.*In the women’s 800 meter Garnet, three FAMU runners competed: Analeta Peterson (13th – 2:25.50), YaTandrea Burke (17th – 2:28.10) and Shantrice Green (24th – 2:36.28).*Sarrah Davis finished 17th ion the 100 meter dash Garnet (13.50).*Tiffany Harris placed 21st in the 400 meter dash Garnet (1:04.84). Rachonda Grover finished 23rd (24.46 meters) in the Women’s Discus Throw Garnet.
