Golden Panthers sweep Rattlers

After playing nine innings of good baseball The Rattlers fell to Florida International University Sunday.

FIU took advantage of six errors by FAMU. FIU catcher Cody Jacobs battled to a 3-2 count against FAMU starter Jamil Knight and fouled off the next three pitches before delivering a two-run homerun.

The Rattlers enjoyed a brief 3-2 lead in the fifth, when Kevin Clethan led off with a single, stole second, advanced to third on a throwing error, scoring on Chris Lee’s single to right.

“That’s baseball. It’s a crazy game,” said head coach Joe Durant. “Anything can happen at any given time.”

FAMU heads to Jacksonville for the Jacksonville Invitational Thursday through Saturday against JU before coming back home Wednesday, March 3 for a much-anticipated MEAC season-opening series against Bethune-Cookman, who beat the Rattlers last time for the conference regular-season and tournament titles.
