Armenian journalists partner with FAMU

TALLAHASSEE – The U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs has funded a grant for a partnership between Gyumri State Pedagogical Institute in Armenia and Florida A & M University School of Journalism and Graphic Communication to teach journalism to two visiting instructors.

Tatevik Tovmasyan and Varduhy Petrosyan are practicing journalists who will attend classes at the University, interact with faculty and students and visit local and regional media outlets during their three-month stay.

Bush makes final State of the Union AddressWASHINGTON – In his State of the Union address Tuesday, President Bush proposed new job-training grants for community colleges to help prepare American workers for the economy – the central focus of November’s presidential election.

In his address, Bush announced at least $120 million in grants, administered by the Labor Department, to enhance work force training programs at community colleges, education officials said Sunday.
