Comedians to perform

It’s Homecoming at Florida State University and that means it’s time for Pow Wow. The annual homecoming celebration will be held in the civic center Friday.

This is the third year of the student-run Pow Wow. It will feature comedians Rudy Rush and Dane Cook.

Cook is the headlining comedian. He has appeared on both “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno and “The Late Show” with David Letterman. Cook is also a veteran of the big and little screen, having appeared on Comedy Central’s “Crank Yankers” and in the movie “Mystery Men.”

“He is a very funny comedian and we know he’ll be great,” said assistant director Ben Dostal.

Ruddy Rush, former host of Showtime at the Apollo, will open for Cook. Rush has been a popular choice with the student body. “Everyone I know is exited to see him because he’s a recognizable name and we want to see him live,” said Lincoln White ,20, a junior meteorology student from Columbus, Ga.

Rush and Cook will make up the second half of the show. The first half of the show will feature performances by the Cheerleaders and other campus clubs and organizations.

Doors open at 7 p.m. with a pre show banquet and awards ceremony. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster for $15 plus a service charge.
