Failing to vote silences voice

I want to say thank you to the most wonderful students in the world for allowing the brother of the dumbest man in the world to be re-elected as Florida’s governor. Well done.

Yeah, right. How long will it take for you people to get it through your heads that your vote counts?

Did you not read the signs posted around campus? Why would the Rev. Jesse Jackson show up to persuade you all to vote if voting wasn’t important?

I need an answer.

Why didn’t you vote? Was it because you forgot, didn’t have enough time, or you’re not registered?

All excuses are lame because the courthouse opened at least four days before other voting polls opened.

There was plenty of time to vote and on Tuesday, the polls were open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. If you couldn’t find time to vote in five days, you are officially lame.

There are 2,347 registered voters on campus and only 1,010 of those people actually voted.

In Leon County, there are 146,151 registered voters and only 94,543 voted. I recall a young man complaining about how politicians don’t care about students.

Well with numbers this low, why should the politicians care?

People actually died for us to have the right to vote. What have you done? Nothing, except letting their blood be shed in vain. Well, I hope FAMU students are happy.

Bush won by 600,000 votes. If FAMU students would have voted and filled the precincts designated for students, then Bush would know that we know how important voting is.

Thank you so much Rattlers, we really appreciate your non-votes.

So, when your tuition is continually raised and when more money is taken from education to give to Bush’s friends in the private sector, don’t feel bad because you chose your fate.
