Banc of America recruits FAMU

The Chief Financiers Organization welcomed Banc of America to FAMU Thursday. To a crowd of about 100 people, the CFO sponsored Banc of America Day with a seminar on the Paddyfoote lawn.

Banc of America Securities is a subsidiary of Bank of America Corporation. It is a investment bank and brokerage firm with offices worldwide.

The firm delivers capital raising, financial advisory and risk management solutions to corporations, institutional investors and government entities.

“CFO wants to use our experience to help FAMU students get internships and jobs. Banc of America Securities is speaking to build better relationships with FAMU students for possible networking contacts,” said Shavonne Posey, 20, a senior business administration student from Cleveland. She serves as the CFO Chief of Outreach.

Free food and drinks were served at the seminar as top executives and representatives from the bank spoke and visited with FAMU students. Banc of America sought to recruit possible interns from FAMU. They are also looking for permanent hires in asset management sales and trading investment banking.

Peter Washington III, 22, a senior business administration student from Cleveland, is a new hire for Banc of America Securities. Washington is a new member of the 2002 Analyst Class of Global Markets Group within Banc of America Securities. This group consists of some of the top business administration

and business finance students from around the nation. Students from Harvard, Spelman, Morehouse and Stanford were also chosen to be apart of this group.

“CFO feels it is important for Banc of America Securities to initiate relationships to CFO, the career center and the FAMU student body,” said Washington.

CFO has been holding seminars and simulations to help students gain knowledge they need to gain internships and permanent jobs in finance. 17 members of the

organization will be interning with Wall Street this summer. The Chief Financiers Organization was established about two years ago with the intent to help students

learn more about and pursue finance careers. The CFO is open to all majors, but prefer students with an interest in a career in finance.
