Despite results, ‘we are all winners’

Rattlers, I cannot thank you enough for the love and dedication that you showed the candidates during this year’s election. If there is one thing that I’ve learned during my short time here at FAMU, it’s that when you have a dedicated group of people behind you who are the SOURCE of your strength, you can fly higher than a BUTTERFLY because the possibilities are UNLIMITED. Their determination and passion generates a foundation for success that is LIKE A ROCK, steadfast and unmovable.Earlier this week someone said to me that you cannot have a testimony without first being tested and I now see that that is the TRUTH. God promised us all victory, but he never said that it would be easy and that we would not have to work to obtain it. However, this does not mean that we didn’t work as hard as everyone else or that we deserved it any less. It simply means that we have the responsibility to find out what God has in store for us. The Miss Field’s cookie or SWEET TREAT of victory has many different forms. Because FAMU needs more than ONE MIKE in order to insure that there is a FAMU for future generations. That’s the T.R.U.T.H. also. Thank you, because during campaign week every smile, every flyer, every voice, every megaphone, every shirt, every parade, every banner and every glow stick was a RAY OF HOPE that showed me leadership on this campus is not dead and that our student body would rather be proactive than reactive. For that, I salute you all. It is my opinion that we are all winners and if you feel any differently, then YOU DON’T KNOW JACK.
