Valentine’s romance for frugal side of you

Many students will be getting balloons and flowers this Valentine’s Day. Some will be going to restaurants. These restaurants are offering good food at a not-so-high price.

For those of you who want to have a nice meal without breaking their bank accounts, check out these restaurants. They offer specials that cater to couples and the college student’s budget. Lots of these restaurants offer a romantic night for under $30.

Jessica Ritchie, a hostess from The American Café, said their special consists of two appetizers, two salads, two entrees, two deserts, and two coffees all for $32.99. This promotion lasts from February 14-16.

Ever popular Red Lobster has a couple-friendly menu that begins around Valentine’s Day. Jason Derose, a server, said they will be having a special lobster menu geared toward couples.

“Valentine’s Day is our busiest night”, Derose said.

Applebee’s Neighborhood Bar and Grill is having a sizzling sweetheart dinner special. For $25.99, couples can have two appetizers, two sizzling steak dinner entrees, and two strawberry cheesecakes.

Host Scott Marvin said this promotion will last February 13-15. He also said the Applebee’s clientele is mostly students and he expects a huge crowd for V-Day.

“I love Applebee’s and this offer sounds more than affordable. Hopefully my Valentine will read this and get some ideas” said Jessica Simon, 19, a sophomore business administration student.

At El Chico Mexican Restaurant, hostess Rebecca Morgan, said their menu has one meal for $27.95 that comes with a top shelf queso appetizer, fajitas, and Mexican apple pie.

She also said that the best time to come would be early evening around 4 or late evening around 9. She said it would be packed between those times.
