What would you do with $60 billion? I know I would probably pay off some bills or get a car or maybe even donate a few billion to the church.
I know what I would not do. I would not use it to fund a war over in some minute country.
According to the Tallahassee Democrat, the U.S. Government has spent $60 billion on the Operation Enduring Freedom. I don’t know if you know this, but that is a lot of money to be spending on any thing.
Now what’s so upsetting is that the government can amazingly find all this money to fund the Operation but it can’t find any money for the homeless, medical care or to improve education.
Now don’t get me wrong, I do feel that whoever was involved with the Sept. 11 disaster should be punished. However, at what expense to the country are we going to drag this out? Why are we pressing the budget down to nothing so we can be in debt to the entire planet?
Not only will the nation be in debt to the planet, but U.S. citizens are being fired from their jobs by the thousands. This recession is not only bringing a glass ceiling to the economy, but is also causing dismay in peoples livelihood.
Ford Motor Company has laid off 35,000 workers and will be closing five of its factories. Energy giant Enron is in the midst of a major collapse where they will be laying off more than 5,000 workers
If they are laying people off, what about the people who are about to graduate from college? I guess they’ll have to join the military since that will be the only job that will be hiring.
From the college standpoint, does that mean I won’t be able to get a student grant or loan because all the educational funding has gone to the Operation?
Lets hope that this operation will be over and money can start going back to where it belongs, the United States and it’s people.
