Exhibition Basketball Weekend will be Saturday and Sunday at the Jake Gaither Athletic Center, as the men’s and women’s teams will hit the court for their final preseason games.
Saturday, the Rattler basketball team, under new head coach Mike Gillespie, will tangle withthe Valdosta State University Blazers in a 5 p.m. battle.
The Rattlerette basketball team, coached by Debra Clark, is coming off a 73-54 win over Fort Valley State last Sunday. This weekend, they will take on the Albany State Lady Rams at 4 p.m.
At halftime of the men’s game Saturday, FAMU’s Marketing Department, in conjunction with Slip-n-Slide Records, will hold a $1,000 giveaway. Two contestants, one male and one female, will take one shot from half court for the prize.
If neither contestant makes the shot, then the $1000 will be split evenly between the men’s and women’s basketball programs.
